When it rains, it pours - ESPECIALLY IN NY OMG. People in this city were so pro about it too - just minutes after it started raining, umbrella shops popped up on every corner. We Californians freak the fuck out if it isn’t warm & sunny outside… yet Kaylynn & I braved the storm to visit The Met in the Upper East Side. It was 100% worth it.
Admission was $12 for students, & you receive a small green pin that you attach to your clothing to enter any of the museum’s galleries.

Later that evening, we took the subway to Union Square & walked to ABC Kitchen for dinner. Even though there were no reservations available, we were seated immediately since we arrived before the restaurant even opened.
Just look at that table setting!!! Wooden floors & tables, hanging chandeliers & light fixtures, and a dim lit room… perfect for a romantic date!!
I ordered one of their special drinks - which was hella W E A K ! It had vodka distilled with honey?, rhubarb, & lemonade. Not bad.
My side order of french fries ($7).
Crab Toast with Lemon Aioli ($17). LA Seafood > NY Seafood. Hands. Down. B l e h .
Roasted Carrot & Avocado Salad ($16) with crunchy seeds, sour cream, & citrus.
Tuna Sashimi ($17) marinated with ginger & mint … it was okay. Having sushi & sashimi at Maru and Sugarfish on the west coast have spoiled me.
I ordered the night’s special with was a spaghetti with pesto, snow peas, & ricotta. I found it quite bland & it was crying for some salt. Overall, LA has a superior dining scene to NY imo - I wasn’t e v e r blown away by the food in New York except for the pork bun at Ippudo. Disappointing …
Kaylynn & I also picked up some of Laduree’s famous macarons earlier on in the day. Located on Madison Ave, the same street where those expensive ass stores are (Gucci, Tom Ford, Chloe), the shop was very posh & the macarons cost ~$33 for a dozen.
Perhaps it was due to the humidity, but these cracked so fucking easily! I didn’t take a picture of 2 of them because they got crushed in the box. No lie though, the macarons at Caffe Concerto tasted so much better… I expected so much more because they were so expensive.

Think I’m going to give away some of my clothing that I’ve never even worn…Closet’s getting a little too cramped.
My sisters & I woke up at 8am this morning (5am back in CA; yes, it fucking sucked) to have breakfast at Ess-a-Bagel. Supposedly they have the best bagels in NY, but I was really disappointed!! They didn’t even toast my Onion Bagel. WTF. People eat their bagels that way here? I’d rather buy a bag at Ralph’s or some shit and toast it myself at home.
Plus, I felt S U P E R uncomfortable because the workers here were hitting on me. Classless motherfuckers. Do your job.

[ Would you like some more bagel with your cream cheese? ]
We reached Central Park after getting lost a few times (never trust my sister’s directions). It was refreshing to see some greenery in this city. However, the park was chalk-full of tourists thus there was no sense of serenity. Boo.

Loved this quartet that were playing for the passerbys!

We hoped to view the MoMA Rain Room Exhibition, but there was a 4 hour wait. Oh well. Luckily Kaylynn & I love the arts and had a blast viewing just the galleries.

[ Hey girl, heyyyy. Picasso :) ]
We stayed at MoMA longer than we expected to & we were cranky as fuck from HUNGERRR. We arrived at the famous Ippudo 30 minutes early to avoid the wait!

Le sisters had the Akamaru Modern ($15) with nitamago & kakuni.

I had the most popular dish, Shiromaru Hakata Classic ($15) with nitamago & kakuni as well.

And I added some b a k u d a n like a BOSS! The Korean in me was screaming for some spice. The noodles were perfectly cooked & I would prefer this ramen over any I’ve tried in LA!

Though the ramen was amazing, the best part of dinner were the Hirata Pork Buns. Duuuuuuude. That mayo man. I swear it tastes a million times better than it looks. I bet if Lenny ate this, he’d eat at least 4.

It slowly started to rain as we made our way to Cha-An, a quaint, Japanese cafe in East Village. I wish I could teleport this place back to LA. I would go here everyday just for their desserts & tea. I ordered the Flower Craft Tea ($7) solely because it had a pretty flower in it …

Kaylynn’s Sakura Flan. It was okies.

I’ve always been disappointed with chocolate souffles. NOT THIS ONE!

My Black Sesame Creme Brulee ($8). It was great.

The creme brulee sits at the bottom of the bowl while topped with ice cream & a black sesame brittle.

Gah. I really need to go on some sort of cleanse when I get back.

Ohoho I know I’ve been a lazy fuck lately. My bad! - LoL, sleep, & pilates have seemed more appealing than blogging to me for the past few months. But since I’m in N e w Y o r k for a 5 day vacation with shitty ass hotel internet, I’ve been left with no choice :( hehe
I’m so happy to finally be off that god awful plane. My ass bones were aching from sitting for 5 hours; I have no idea how I lasted 14 hours when I went to Korea. After settling into our hotel, we headed straight away to the subway to grab some GRUB!

[ Sorry Kaylynn, but you blinked. ]
Bam! $30 for an unlimited subway pass for 5 days! Honestly, I was pretty scared that the subways in NYC would be ghetto as fuck with trash and homeless people (since I’ve only been on the high-tech subways in SK), but it was actually clean! Props to the city!!

We took the subway line for ~10 minutes and walked to 53rd & 6th to grab some CHICKEN & RICE from The Halal Guys. I was ready to see what the big fuss was about since everyone I know who’s been to NY rave about this place.

We waited only about 5 minutes & ordered the classic Chicken over Rice ($6). Once I received my bowl, I walked to the back of the cart where you pour their famous WHITE SAUCE all overrrrrr. Make sure you put LOTS - I had to walk back to the cart like 2 times to get moar.

The final consensus: it was aight. I really liked their white sauce (ranch?), but what this needed was some TABASCO. Honestly, I’d choose to eat a Chipotle burrito bowl, but you really do get your bang for your buck - portions are HUGE!! & they don’t gimp you on the chicken.

We finished our dinner at the fountain next to the car & took a brisk walk to Momofuku Milk Bar just a few blocks away. Loving the sensual lighting at a dessert joint!! I had choices between cookies, pies, shakes, & cakes, yet I ordered …

their Cereal Milk Soft Serve with Corn Flakes ($5?)!!
Cereal milk? What? Seriously, imagine you’re drinking the milk in the bowl after you ate some frosted flakes. That’s what this ice cream tasted like; it’s a trip.

and it was fucking GOOD! Craving it right now ugh!!

KK guys, I’ll be back tomorrow with another entry. Promisuuu (^__^) ~*

GOISE. I GOT INTO MY 1ST CHOICE RN PROGRAM (⊙_☉) !!!
After four years out of high school, I finally realized what my passion is after exploring CompSci, Chemistry, and Pharmacological Chemistry majors. I was so unhappy my junior year at UCSD and made the extremely difficult choice to come home to LA to change career paths & pay for college all on my own.
Don’t be afraid to transfer schools or switch majors - even if you’re years out of high school. I left a prestigious university, and it has been the b e s t decision I’ve made in my life because I’m studying for & pursuing a career that I love and makes me happy!!!
Thank you all for sticking around my blog although I’ve been MIA for the past year. I promise to have many more entries once summer vacation hits (*゚ー゚)ゞ

I almost don’t want to share this blog post, for Inn of the Seventh Ray is a restaurant that I want to keep all to myself; I know once I put these pictures up on Facebook, all these bitches will start flocking here like the time I uploaded Harajuku Crepe pix. Oh well ヽ(ー_ー )ノ !!

Located in the heart of Topanga, Inn of the Seventh Ray is surrounded by forest. No seriously, Google Map it - everything is green LOL. Seated creek-side it’s almost as if we were transported to the setting of A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream - the birds were chirping, dandelions were floating in the wind, & absolutely no sounds of cars passing by.

Don’t be fooled by the fanciness of this place, though - we had the sassiest waiter who just couldn’t stop making us laugh (≧∇≦). The hostess even let us sneak into the wedding area (LOL) so we could see the rest of the venue. For our drinks, Angela & I ordered the Freshly Squeezed Juice of the day: Strawberry Papaya ($4.50). SueJean had the Fresh Ginger Lemonade ($4.25) made with alkaline water & sweetened with mint agave.

We followed our waiter’s suggestion and decided to share 3 plates between us. Our food took quite a while to arrive - I’d say around 30 minutes - but it was so worth the wait.

The first was the Warm Brown Rice ($13): avocado, dried sea vegetables, garlic chips, sesame seeds, braggs liquid amino acids. This was actually the least favorite of ours because the braggs liquid AA was way too salty. If they gave us much less of that in our rice, I feel like the avocado could have effectively cancelled the saltiness out.

Next was the Grilled Lamb Sliders with Chipotle Mayo ($16): goat cheese, red onion, spinach, balsamic glaze, and grilled piquello peppers. I couldn’t even tell this was even lamb!! The mayo was SoOoOo ❤ good … Thank God they gave us extra.

So cute and fat hehe.

I should be a fucking food photographer.

Lastly, the Mushroom Flathbread ($14): mushrooms, organic spinach, crème fraîche, gruyere cheese. Angela almost finished this by herself … the bread was so crispy & the mushrooms were to die for.

The spinach added some crisp & freshness to the cheesy flatbread.

We finished off with the Blueberry Financier Cake ($10), again recommended by our waiter! It included ginger ice cream, and caramel &cinnamon blueberry creme fraiche covered in maple syrup made only with natural sweeteners.

The battle the impending food coma, I washed everything down with a latte ($4.50).

The hostess recommended that we would return someday for dinner when the entire restaurant is illuminated by thousands of small lights. I had such a great time, and I hope to come back within a week (❁´◡`❁)*✲゚*

It’s been so hard to keep up with my blog lately; taking 10 units, working 6 days a week, and taking Pilates 4 days a week. I’m happy though :)

My boyfriend took me out on a sweet date ❤ to the LACMA last weekend (my fave museum!!) to view the Stanley Kubrick exhibition that is running ‘til this June. After browsing a few of the buildings, we stopped by Ray’s and Stark Bar for lunch.

Being a part of the Patina Restaurant Group, I had high expectations. We didn’t have a reservation, so we had to sit out on the patio which was actually quite nice - people watching is something I love doing ~* Plus! Although the weather was F R E E Z I N G - like fucking in the 50s wtf California - I had a nice high-powered heating lamp right next to me ~!

We are wine noobs… so no wine this time LOL!! I stuck with simple house water. Trying to avoid any type of sugary drinks nowadays (◡‿◡✿) ~*

While we browsed the menu, the waiter dropped off their complimentary house bread straight from their wood-burning oven along with salted butter.

I ate 3 out of the 4 slices … GG DIET ヘ(>_<ヘ)!

My Benedict Burger ($17) - house brioche, red onion confit, Gruyère, sunny egg, watercress, & bearnaise with a side of potato chips.

HOOOOOOOOOLY щ(゜ロ゜щ) dat egg…

Zomgah it was so rich that I could only finish half of it. I wish they gave us a steak knife or some shit cuz that burger was really hard to cut lol.

Stuffed as fuck, we ordered coffee while we waited on our dessert. Lenny really wanted me to take of picture of his French Press Coffee ($8) with its snuggie, so here you guys go.

I stuck to my classic Cafe au Lait ($4) ❦ ~*

This was simply called Chocolate ($10) - passion fruit mousse, brownie crumble, BTO cookie crunch, chocolate tuile, & passion fruit coulis.

My first bite was like (O_O ) !!! I was so shocked by the sudden sourness of the passion fruit coulis LOL! However, it really did balance out the sweetness of the chocolate, and we both found this a truly amazing dessert… A lady even stopped by our table just to awe at its beauty.

Bravo, Ray’s. Seriously. We’ll be back again :)

Oh ~* This place is a hipster’s [ p a r a d i s e ] ~!! I arrived with my sister to Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, and we were immediately in love with its funky, yet sleek decor.

It really had a New York style vibe with its brick walls & high ceilings. We probably chose the worst weekend to come visit as it was New Years Eve - & you know what that means in Pasadena … the (/゚Д゚)/ motherfucking Rose Parade. Traffic sucked balls, but we found free parking a block away on Raymond Ave. at the Metro Station!!

You first order your drink with the barista at the front, and they’ll call your name once it is ready at the end of the counter. My sis & I chose to sit at the high wooden tabletops ~*

I had the Mocha ($5) made with their Black Cat Espresso which has a sweet flavour ~*

Kaylynn’s Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong Tea ($4.50) - it was more floral than fruity … almost too floral. I felt like I was drinking perfume. No bueno.. 「(°ヘ°)

One of my younger sisters couldn’t come with us, so I picked up a Scarlet & Gold Juice ($9.50) for her. I couldn’t resist not buying the pink juice in the cutest (✿ ♥‿♥) jar …

I swear, one day I’ll live in Pasadena - one of my favorite cities in LA ~* Perhaps I’ll even get into the city’s nursing school!! /wishwishwish
