The lovely French restaurant, Cafe Chloe, is tucked away in a quieter section of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Since my friends & I ❀ went during a weeknight, we had no problem finding metered street parking less than a block away. A charming, well-decorated bar stands in the center of the cafe with additional small tables surrounding it (⌒▽⌒)☆.

There is also seating in the outdoor patio overlooking the street. Although it was a bit chilly in the evening, there were heaters to keep diners warm (❁´◡`❁)*✲゚* ~*

For our appetizer, my table shared the Macaroni, Panchetta, & Bleu d’Auvergne Gratin ($15). The three of us agreed that this was the BEST macaroni & cheese we’ve ever had(>y<). I was a bit worried that the macaroni would be soggy, but it was perfectly al dente. The melted cheese crust on top was the icing on the cake ✌.

I adored Cafe Chloe’s menu selection. There was one dish each for beef, fish, chicken, lamb, duck, & seafood. Tonight, I had the Mussel Entree ($17) - local mussels cooked in Belgian ale & cream with garlic, leeks, pomme frites with dijon aioli. Now let me tell you … there’s HELLA LOT of mussels in this shit LOL! You WILL get full, TRUST ME ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ . The broth at the bottom of the dish complemented both the mussels and fries extremely well. Highly recommended ❤ ~*

Robert had the popular Steak & Frites ($21.75) - with anchovy butter, sauteed farm greens, and cipollini onions. The anchovy butter really made this dish as you will have no need for any kind of steak sauce(^ω^). Be sure to order some wine with this dish though - Robert felt that it was too salty to eat alone.

Soo ordered the Lamb Entree ($??) - I have no fucking idea what kinda of sauce or what that green stuff is on his plate since this dish isn’t on their online menu LOL!! BUT - it was very well presented, and the lamb was extremely tender. It almost tasted exactly like beef.

So full (︶▽︶) ~!! Like my mountain of mussel shells?

We shared the Strawberry & Almond Gallette ($8.50) topped with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert. Oh boy, oh boy (◕__◕✿) …

THIS SHIT WAS GOOD ~!! I just wish the gave us some more ice cream. Sweet strawberry filling inside a crispy pastry. Thank God it’s strawberry season o(≧∇≦o) ~!!

Okay, so all the good stuff aside … sure the ambience was romantic & charming, but the service, I’m sad to say, sucked balls. The manager personally took care of us (well, there were only half of the 6 tables full anyway), but it took FOREVER & A HALF to get our entrees 凸(-0-メ). Our appetizer came out in a good 15 mintues, but I always expect the next course to arrive in another 15 minutes after. Nope, we had to wait another 40. I found that absolutely unacceptable, thus resulting in the low tip given. I really hope Cafe Chloe’s kitchen quickens up their pace in the future, for every other aspect of this restaurant was absolutely perfect (┳◇┳) . I’ll be giving this place another try in a week or so, and I’m hoping I’ll have a better experience than the one I had tonight.
